Briefly outline your football career prior to joining Deveronvale.?
On leaving school signed as an Apprentice with Peterborough Utd FC, returned to Aberdeen in the summer of 1989 just prior to signing for Deveronvale FC.
Which years did you play for Deveronvale, and who signed you ?

1989 signed by Billy Anderson & George Yule

What are your fondest memories of your time with the club?
What I remember I think (apart from the football) is that on every away trip we would somehow without fail end up in some bar in Macduff ( the Bayview ? ). I think, if my memory serves me well, it may have been something to do with Billy, and needless to say their were some real shapes getting back on the bus to go to Aberdeen.
Of course, me being young and innocent was only on the fanta, or that’s what they told me it was!
What is the most memorable game(s) you played in for Vale, and why?
The game I remember most was a midweek game against Huntly at Princess Royal. The reason I remember this one was it might have been the only good game I played.
Who were the characters at the club ?
Difficult to remember exactly, but think everyone I met during my short spell at the Vale was a character in their on way.
I’ve been trying to remember a funny story from my short time and I know their will have been plenty but that fanta stuff I mentioned in the previous question seems to have erased my memory !
Who were the best players you played with at the Vale and why?
Nigel Montgomery was almost as classy as me and of course my mates Jim Cheyne & Graham Lawrie.
And who were the best players you played against, and why?
So many top quality players to choose from especially from my time in England or from various trial spells with clubs. One player that stands out in my mind is Andy Townsend when he was at Chelsea. I played with and against him in training games and he was absolutely phenomenal. The best finisher I have witnessed, even though he was at the end of his career, was the Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon… he never missed !

From the Highland league, and before I joined Peterhead I always remember having awkward games playing against their defensive partnership of John Seivewright and Eddie Forman, thankfully I eventually teamed up with them and saw week in week out how good they were.
What have you done in a football sense since you left the Vale ?
Most of my time in the Highland league was spent at Peterhead although I have had a couple of seasons at both Huntly and Lossiemouth.

Also played some Junior football at Sunnybank,Turriff & Banks o Dee before eventually packing in due to never ending hamstring problems ( it must have been all that pace I had, NOT !!! )
What does a normal Saturday afternoon entail for you these days ?
I took up golf in 2004 having never really had any interest in it, believing that golf was a game for people who can’t play football.
Of course now I am addicted and Saturday afternoons you will find me in white troosers, pink T shirt & shades ( I’m the trendiest golfer in Europe by the way ! ) trying my hardest to improve my handicap.
In the winter Saturday afternoons are spent wishing it was summer and sometimes at around 3pm I reminisce and say to myself 10 years ago we would just be kicking off (oh for the power to turn back time ! )

Other than that my time is spent with me missus and our two children, and me reminding them just how good a player I was, and that it never leaves you.
