Which years did you play for Deveronvale ?
February 1977 - May 1979.
Who signed you for the Vale and what attracted you to sign for the club ?
George Christie.
There were a number of good young players at the club and I was told my experience would be invaluable in helping them mature.
What are your fondest memories of playing for Vale ?
The attitude and will to win and improve throughout the squad made my time at the Vale a joy to remember.
The marvellous fans whose enthusiasm and support was of great value to the players.
What is the most memorable game you played in for Vale ?
(a)Captaining the team in the Bells Cup Final. We beat Huntly at Christie Park on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
(b) A league game at Forres when I scored a hat-trick from midfield.
(c) An Aberdeenshire Cup Tie at Aberdeen University which Vale won 5-0. The game was televised and I still watch the video occasionally.
8. Who were the characters at the club ?
Many different characters in a terrific squad of players.
If I have to choose I will name Allan Forbes, Norrie McBain and Kevin Bremner.
Who were the best players you played with at the Vale ?
Grant Smith was an extremely skillful young midfield player.
The experienced George Pirie at sweeper.
The young Jim Leighton who went on to greater things.
Kevin Bremner and Norrie McBain whose combative skills and excellent attitude inspired others.
And who were the best players you played against ?
Jack Lornie, Jim Hosie, Jim Lyness, Davie Johnston, Chic Allan, Andy Penman,
Bunny McCall, Willie Grant, Ronnie Mair, Bruce Roy, Pete Smith

What have you done in a football sense since you left the Vale ?
I finished my 18 year Highland League career at Lossiemouth, 2 years after leaving the Vale.
Player/Manager with Buckie Rovers for 5 years, one League Title and several cups won.
Manager with Rothes F.C. for 5 years, lost 2-1 to Caley in Qualifying Cup Final. Lost 3-1 to Peterhead in Scottish Cup.
Manager of Buckie Thistle Youth for 2 years.
Manager of Welfare League side Buckie United for 5 years - 2 League Titles and several cups won.
Manager of Portgordon F.C. for 1 year.
What does a normal Saturday afternoon entail for you these days ?
I last saw a Highland League game in 1992.
I very seldom miss a Premiership game on Sky T.V. - excellent viewing.
