At Deveronvale Football Club, the safety, wellbeing and development of every child and young person involved with the club is our highest priority. Our Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer plays a vital role in ensuring that all players, volunteers, coaches and parents can enjoy football in a safe, positive and inclusive environment.
Working in line with Scottish FA safeguarding standards and best practice, the officer provides guidance, support and oversight on all matters relating to child wellbeing and protection.
The Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer serves as the club’s main point of contact for any concerns regarding the welfare of children and young people. They help promote a culture where respect, dignity and safeguarding are embedded throughout the club, ensuring that all concerns are listened to, taken seriously and addressed appropriately. Through education, support and ongoing monitoring, Deveronvale Football Club is committed to creating an environment where every young player can thrive, develop confidence and enjoy the game in a safe and supportive setting.
As the Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer I am committed to the wellbeing and protection of all young people involved in Deveronvale Football Club. As a qualified Social Worker for over 10 years I have worked in a range of services supporting children, young people and families, often managing complex child protection and safeguarding concerns. My professional background has equipped me with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond appropriately to concerns, provide guidance and ensure safeguarding remains at the heart of all activities. I am passionate about creating a safe, inclusive environment where children and young people can develop, participate and thrive and continuing to make Deveronvale Football Club at the heart of the local community.
The Club regards the protection of young people as a key Club priority, whether the young person is a member of one of our Youth Teams, a ball boy or girl helping out on matchdays, a mascot or a spectator who comes to Princess Royal Park on a matchday. The Club has a comprehensive Child Protection Policy which is posted, along with supporting documentation, on our website. Our coaches and sports therapists are thoroughly vetted, and they are subject to PVG and Disclosure checks and take part in regular CWSF training events.
